Awelye (Body Paint) - Video of Aboriginal Women applying body paint design
The Aboriginal women apply Awelye body paint designs to the upper body using a tapale (brush- like stick), before dancing their ceremony.
The Warlpiri Aboriginal women from Yuendumu, Aboriginal Art Regions of Central Australia anoint their upper body with oil before applying ochre designs. Awelye designs in women's paintings come directly from the body paint design used in ceremony.
