The Warlpiri Aboriginal women from Yuendumu in central Australia anoint their upper body with oil before applying ochre designs. The designs in Women's paintings come directly from the body paint design used in ceremony. Yawulyu translates to Women's body designs, song, dance, ceremony, performance.
During Yawulyu the women will perform dance cycles and songlines.
