Awenth

Awenth is an Aboriginal word also known as Acacia coriacea, commonly known as river jam, wire-wood, wiry wattle, desert oak, or dogwood, is a tree in the Mimosoideae of family Fabaceae.

A yellow dye is obtained from the flowers; A green dye is obtained from the seed pods; The extensive root system of this plant helps to prevent soil erosion; The wood has been used for making small tools and implements by Aboriginal people in central Australia. Certain Aboriginal artists from Utopia depict the seed pods of the Awenth in her artworks.
