Minnie Pwerle

I knew Minnie Pwerle but it was not until after she passed on that I realised the real power of her paintings. Every time I look at her painting now it makes me smile as if her spirit is reaching out to me – her strength of character, her lack of inhibition, her love of her country and her belief in her Aboriginality talk to me.

Minnie Pwerle

On her death in 2006, Minnie Pwerle left a substantial body of work which conveyed her deep connection to the land and the knowledge of the foods that it provides.
