Yalke
Yalke, its Aboriginal name for Bush onion or Wild onion. Yalke is actually not related to the onion species, but rather a species of sedge. It is an Australian native plant called Cyperus bulbosus
Yalke is a traditional bush tucker food for Aboriginal people in central Australia. They are dug up on creek banks when the grass of the onion has dried out. The husk can also be eaten. They are eaten raw or cooked in the hot earth by the fire.
