The paintings background represents the landscape of the Pitjantjatjara lands, north-west of South Australia.

The black lines represent rain. The Kookatha Aboriginal people follow the rain, as bush tucker becomes abundant, replenishing rock holes and transforming the landscape with wild flowers. The women dig for honey ants after rain when their abdomens are full of nectar.
