The painting refers to the digging places where the bush onion (Yalke) is found.

The bush onion is of significance to Aboriginal people who own this dreaming or totem and can only be collected according to law. The bush onion is ready to be gathered, once the top of the plant has died off in winter. The women must skilfully dig by hand from one side to the other.

The bush onion (bush tucker) has been a food source by Aboriginal people living in Central Australia for thousands of years. The women pay homage to the spirit of the bush onion in their ceremonies.
