The painting depicts Aboriginal iconography referring to awelye (body paint) associated with women's ceremony and bush melon.

  • The U shape with lines represents a woman
  • The large circles represent a ceremonial site
  • The small circles represent bush melon

Betty Mbitjana has inherited this dreaming from her Mother Minnie Pwerle (passed away). The bush melon is a sweet bush tucker, which grew once abundant at Antwengerrp, Utopia in Central Australia. Betty's mother and other women used to gather the fruit either to be eaten or stored in times when bush tucker was scarce.
