The painting depicts the seed of the pencil yam (atnwelarr) This Dreaming story belongs to the artists homelands of Alhalkere country, Utopia region in Central Australia.
In the Dreamtime two seeds were born and created two types of pencil yam. One seed was called Antwelarr for Alhalkere country and the other seed was called Arlatyeye for Arnumarra country.
The pencil yam is a staple food source for Aboriginal people and the women perform ceremonies to ensure its perpetual germination.
