Using Aboriginal iconography the painting tells the story of women gathering bush tucker.

Symbols depicted are:

  • The U shapes represent a woman
  • The () shape represents a coolamon (wooden bowl)
  • The I shape represents a digging stick

Digging sticks and coolamons are hand-crafted implements the women use to gather honey ants, witchetty grubs and bush berries (depicted). The Aboriginal women are the principal food gatherers while the Aboriginal men go hunting for larger prey.
