The painting depicts the bush banana. The Eastern Arrernte people from Central Australia call the bush banana - altyeye
The bush banana is an important plant for the Eastern Arrernte people and is a totem to certain people. The women gather the fruit promptly after rainfall, otherwise if left to long the fruit and flowers becomes to hot.
The foot prints represent a spiritual connection with their homeland, known as walkabout. (walkabout is a spiritual journey where they return to their home or where they feel a connection to the land).
