The painting depicts the bush banana. The Eastern Arrernte Aboriginal people from Central Australia call the bush banana altyeye

The bush banana is an important plant for the Eastern Arrernte people and is a totem to certain people. The women gather the fruit promptly after rainfall, otherwise if left to long the fruit and flowers become too hot. The circle in the centre of the painting represents a campsite.
