This artwork depicts wild figs and berries, an important food source for Aboriginal people in central Australia.


Wild figs referred to by the Eastern Arrernte people as Utyerrke aboriginal dictionary button and is associated with certain women's Dreaming stories. They can be eaten or ground into a paste and left to dry.


Bush berries are gathered after rain, when the barren desert has been transformed into an abundance of edible berries. They can be eaten either raw or cooked.
