The painting depicts the wild fig. The Eastern Arrernte people from Central Australia call wild fig- utyerrke.
The wild fig is an important food source and is associated with a dreaming story . The women gather the bush fig to be eaten or ground into a paste and left to dry. Utyerrke grows on hills or mountains. The women also used the leaves for sand story telling.
The foot prints represents walkabout.(walkabout is a spiritual journey where they return to their home or where they feel a connection to the land).
