Barramundi and Catfish are a staple food source for Aboriginal people living in Arnhem Land and Northern Australia. Barramundi is derived from the Aboriginal word Barramunda.

Animals, including Barramundi and Catfish are painted to ensure a successful hunt by placing people in touch with the spirit of the animal.
