The painting depicts the magnificent MacDonnell Ranges with the Ghost gum, a native tree found in Central and Northern areas of Australia.

To the Arrernte Aboriginal people the MacDonnell Ranges is the spiritual dreamtime birthplace of the ancestor caterpillar, as it formed the MacDonnell Ranges, creating rivers, gorges and tracks.
