This artwork depicts a weaving basket. Aboriginal women use un-spun vegetable fibers and shape into a basket form, other materials include straw, animal hair, hide, grasses, thread and wood.
Aboriginal women are famous for their coloured basket weaving. The baskets were used for food gathering or symbolic ceremonies.
The artist shared with Sabine Haider from Central Art her childhood memories of watching her mother and grandmothers weave baskets and create incredible patterns.
