The painting refers to the journey of the Tingari ancestors from the Dreamtime, as the travelled over vast tracts of land, creating and shaping certain sites in the Western Desert. They also performed rituals, instilled law and customs to the Pintupi people.

The events of the Tingari ancestors are enshrined in many song and dance cycles.
