The painting depicts the transition of the seasons, referring to the bush yam plant, a principal food source (bush tucker) gathered by the women from Utopia in Central Australia.
Through Awelye (womens ceremony) the women pay homage to the spirit of the yam plant to ensure perpetual germination.
