In the Footprints of Barbara Weir
My Mothers Country by Barbara Weir
The painting depicts a subtle palette of intricate dots on the surface, but underneath displaying Barbara's mother; the late Minnie Pwerle's country of Atnwengerrp and associated deep spiritual women's dance ceremonies, which include body paint and song lines paying homage to their country.
The painting also represents landmarks of cultural significance - such as river beds, rock formations and bush forms. Aboriginal people have deep spiritual attachment with the land.
