Awelye by Abie Loy Kemarre

The painting depicts Awelye body paint design associated with women's ceremony from the artists homeland of Lyentye (Mosquito Bore) at Utopia.

Before commencing their ceremony the women apply body paint design (markings) onto their upper body, using ground ochre. Ceremonies include many song and dance cycles.
