Bush Medicine Leaves by Margaret Scobie

This painting depicts particular leaves the Aboriginal women collect from Utopia aboriginal dictionary button in central Australia. These leaves contain medicinal properties. The leaves are boiled , kangaroo resin added and made into a paste, which Aboriginal people use as a bush medicine for wounds, cuts, bites, boils and rashes.


Bush medicine is important to the women and homage is paid in their awelye aboriginal dictionary button ceremonies.
