Womens Ceremony by Gracie Morton Pwerle

This artwork depicts awelye aboriginal dictionary button, which is significant to the Aboriginal women from Utopia in central Australia.

Important elements associated with women's ceremony is the body paint design, songlines and dance cycles, which carry a deep spiritual meaning. Ceremonies are performed to recall their ancestors, to show respect for their country.

The women's tracks are imprinted in the ground to significant ceremonial sites, which is conveyed in this artwork with fine delicate white dotted lines.
