Yam Seed Dreaming by Jennifer Purvis Kngwarreye

The painting depicts the seeds of the bush yam plant, an important Aboriginal food source gathered by the Aboriginal women from Utopia regions of Central Australia. After rain the desert landscape is transformed with dense foliage and masses of bright yellow flowers. The women through ceremony pay homage to the spirit of the yam plant to ensure perpetual germination.
