Kangaroo Dreaming by Roseanne Morton Petyarre
This Aboriginal painting depicts a series of tracks of the Kangaroo ancestor stretching hundreds of kilometres, each track linking to a significant waterhole (middle). The painting can be viewed as a map of the journey of the Kangaroo Dreaming.
The Kangaroo formed an important part of the traditional Aboriginal people as a bush food and is also to many Aboriginal people a totem. Often at ceremonies the men will re-enact the Kangaroo through dance.
