The Bush Hen Dreaming by Abie Loy Kemarre
This painting represents the Bush Hen Dreaming, which recounts the travels of the Bush Hen searching for solanum berries, bush plums and bush tomatoes. These foods are also eaten by Aboriginal people, and some solanum species are used as a bush medicine. The Bush Hen Dreaming is a significant totem to certain families from Utopia in Central Australia. Ceremonies are performed to pay homage to the Bush Hen ancestor. The women will chant song lines and dance cycle to re-enact the Dreaming.
