Petyarre Sisters 2007

Bush Medicine Dreaming by Gloria Petyarre

The painting depicts leaves gathered from a distinctive plant by the Aboriginal women of Utopia, Aboriginal Art Regions of Central Australia. The leaves are boiled, kangaroo resin added and mixed into a paste, which is used by Aboriginal people, as a bush medicine to aid a variety of ailments and as an insect repellent. Aboriginal women of Utopia celebrate the Bush Medicine Dreaming in their ceremonies.
