The painting depicts awelye, a specific ceremonial body paint design associated with Arnkerrth , The Mountain Devil Lizard Dreaming. Aboriginal women paint their breast, shoulders and neck for traditional ceremonies. These ceremonies include song and dance, led by the most senior women of the tribal group.
