Married Man by Paddy Fordham Wainburranga

The painting depicts married man ( skin name Balang ) and his wife
( skin name Narditjan ), referring to married law, assuring Aboriginal tradition of their mortal and spiritual life together.


Depicted are the hand spun bush string dilly bags also called yakou, yibali or but but bag. Aboriginal people from Arnhem Land use the dilly bag for gathering bush tucker and are usually worn around the head.
