ArtistMarie Hayes Kemarre was born on the 19th of February 1972 and comes from Ltyentye Apurte (Santa Teresa Community) in Central Australia located approximately 1 hour from Alice Springs. Marie’s paintings are consistent with the Keringke style which has arisen from Santa Teresa. The artworks that typically come from the community are bright and vibrant with very precise and intricate dotting technique. Marie’s paintings represent the natural, physical and spiritual elements which surround Santa Teresa such as the Dreaming tracks and sites, bush seeds and other fruits as well as the ancestral spirits. The appears of her paintings in terms of shape, design and colour draws on features of ancient rock art and petroglyph design as well as sand and body paint patterns used in traditional ceremonies. Using this specific knowledge and combining with bright colours and fine detail create a wonderful contemporary artwork that combines ancient knowledge with modern interpretation. Marie’s paintings have been extremely popular at Central Art. |
